You put into words my reluctance to eat more, thank you Verity. I'm post menopausal and have been working on strength and lifting since September last year. I'm paying out for a PT because I know I'll never push myself the way she pushes me. But the food thing!! Am I really expected to eat way more food than I have done for years?? It's hard but I've found that if I do it I can cut out biscuits and chocolate because I really can't face putting anything more in my mouth. Let's spread the word - strength and protein!

I know! It goes against everything that society has literally fed to us, eat less and be thin at all costs! We dont' know what we're going to be like as, hopefully, 80 year old women, but I know that I'd rather be strong than skinny and frail! I have drawn the line at eating turkey mince though!

All very interesting, but at least I have new categosation for my runs. I’m always asked “how was your run?” I can now reply “Ford Cortina”, “Mondeo” and “Aston Martin” and they will be none the wiser than when I say “OK thanks”. 😀

It is hard, and the eating protein is a mindset shift too. It is so important though. I watch my mum moving around and I know I want to move more easily than she does. So we keep trying.
