I apologise in advance, I really don’t want to be that annoying “old timer” who can’t wait to share their experience of running London Marathon, but I’m going to do it anyway, because as always, there’s a backstory.
This weekend brings back similar memories of this iconic race for me too, and my last London was 18 years ago! I think I have a love hate relationship with this one. I Iove the fact I did as I did, and i also hate the fact I can’t repeat it. The explosion in participants means it can’t be repeated, I’ll just deny any age reason for now, quietly reflecting on my own memories, and sigh that it’s not quite like the old days, but that’s progress, of sorts, I guess.
Thanks for sharing such a personal experience. I think I was lucky to have volunteered and spectated, so knew more of what to expect. Things like noise cancelling earplugs and the VR of the race can hopefully really help. I’m planning to write about my experience this week.

Amazing, I’m looking forward to reading it 😊
Thank you for sharing your experiences, very insightful. Especially those nightmare toilets!
