The August Round Up
Offh, August has been full on this year, hasn’t it? The weather hasn’t helped, making it feel like 3 seasons in the same month here in the UK. But I am off on holiday next week so I am hanging on to that Summer holiday feeling for a little while longer! Before I head off though, let’s recap some of the best runs, reads and recommendations from this month…
Run of the Month*-
(*Wettest Run of the Month)- there are several contenders, naturally, but the RunVerity (my running club) Social run with PeakPT this weekend was the winner, for reasons you can see (and hear)… Despite the weather, it was still a brilliant way to spend a Saturday.
Substack Read-
Seems simple enough running and breathing but this is one of the first things we teach on our beginner’s running course and one of the most important. Such a great for everyone, not just those new to runners.
How Do You Talk To Your Kids About Sexism? by
This is great read about how to start talking to your kids (or grandkids!) about sexism.
Book Recommendation
I truly can’t put this book down- it’s a memoir by the brilliant Sophie Morgan, and I bought it after seeing her recent Channel 4 documentary, Sophie Morgan’s Fight to Fly (also a recommendation!). A great read any time, but especially so as we head into the Paralympics.
Catch Up Corner
Incase you missed it last week, I finally recorded a podcast! In this first episode I was joined by Frankie from
and we talked about Rose Harvey, the Olympian who ran Paris marathon despite having a stress fracture in her femur (or, as basically every media outlet reported it, a “broken leg”) and the repercussions that has for runners, but also everyone else. We really loved recording this episode and I hope you will love it too, please do stick it on while you’re doing the washing up or walking the dog and I hope you enjoy it! Any ideas for future episodes also welcome!
