Last week I wrote about losing my running mojo, I had some lovely messages (thank you!), including one from a friend telling me she had bought some new trainers after reading my blog which made me smile. I replied to say I was pleased, I meant to follow up the message to say at least all she bought was new trainers, I was thinking of getting a new dog!
The response prompted me to do something I’ve been meaning to do for ages but hadn’t gotten round to- I reached out to a couple of friends who I knew were also struggling with their running mojo and we arranged to meet up for a run. I said I’d bring a flask of tea, Helen said she’d bring the jelly babies, and we promised each other that we’d be able to run off at our own pace if we wanted to. But of course, in the end, we didn’t. Instead, we chatted, put the world to rights and talked about all sorts of stuff, some irrelevant, some bits quite deep, but the main thing was that we didn’t notice the miles and it certainly wasn’t a chore. What we did say though was that if we were new runners, we’d have given up running by now, and this made me sad.
How do you stay passionate about running over the decades?
